Brier Creek Trail

Watch for our Grand Opening of the Bike Trail
June 23, 2012

Once developed, the Brier Creek Mountain Bike Trail will offer something for everyone interested in outdoor nature activities.  While the primary proponent of this trail is the Kentucky Mountain Bike Association (KYMBA), other visitors will benefit from the trail.  This new trail will have a total length of 5 miles.  A total round trip on the trail will be 8.25 miles.  About 3.5 miles of this trail will be located just along the shoreline of Nolin River Lake.

Some of the benefits of this trail to an outdoor enthusiast are:

  • You have access by foot or mountain bike to some impresive views of Nolin River Lake, beautiful rock outcroppings, and spectaculor boulders.
  • The trail will be the only trail at Nolin River Lake in excess of 1 mile and will be one of the only moderate length trails in the area not impacted by horeseback riding.
  • The proximity of this new trail to water will allow for additional bank fishing access.
  • Any debris and trees that are removed from the trail corridor will be anchored on the lakebed as fish attractors and thus better fishing for you.
  • The Brier Creek trailhead is located within Nolin Lake State Park, which provides camping. The campground provides water and electric hook-ups, a showerhouse, and other amenities.
The Friends of Nolin Lake and KYMBA request your support for this effort. Volunteers are needed to construct the trail.  Trail construction is slated to begin in the Spring and preliminary work is already underway.

We are also in need of equipment, supplies, and materials to complete this project.
Your donations are tax deductible.
